Introduced into service by the VR in the early 1960’s, this class of vehicle was derived from E and S series wagons that were modified by removing any remaining superstructure. A new superstructure in the form of steel cradles was then installed onto the wagon deck to transport vibration-sensitive steel-cored aluminium power transmission cable to the various electricity infrastructure projects within the state. In later years, the wagon fleet was made bogie exchangeable to allow them to travel interstate and from 1979 onwards, the wagons were coded VFFX. There were two types of wagon constructed under this wagon coding and the VR Products version represents wagon numbers 1 through 6. Note that 10x cable drums will be supplied with this kit.
