VR 'E/EF/EX/VOAA' Bogie Wagon

Victorian Railways E Bogie Wagon

Introduced into service by the VR in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s, this later version of the 'E' wagon emulates the rebuilt (post World War II) version inaugurated under the VR’s 'Operation Phoenix'.

In the early 1960’s, a limited number of 'E' wagons were transferred to “EF” and “EX” coding for fast and/or bogie exchangeable traffic respectively. Other 'E' wagons were modified and transferred to SC/SCX/SX, QC/QCF/QCX/QTF and Weedex/Fire Attack traffic. The bulk of the 'E' wagon fleet survived until the mid 1970’s, when scrapping commenced. The few remaining 'E' wagons were then transferred to 'HR' or 'VOAA/VOAF/VZRA/VZMA/VZOA' coding as applicable. At a later date, it is intended to release the early (pre World War II) 'dreadnought' version as originally produced by the American Car and Foundry Works in 1925.
