VR 'KC' LCL Container Wagon

Introduced into service by the VR in the mid 1950’s, the KC wagons were converted from IY wagons by removing the wagon sides, ends and doors and then attaching LCL container locks to the remaining floor.

As the LCL container system became progressively redundant due to the popularity of the ISO container system, the KC wagons were then transferred to dedicated tallow tanker transportation from the early 1970’s onward. By the late 1970’s, this traffic had also declined and the KC wagons were then scrapped. Note that containers are not supplied with this kit.
