VR & V/Line 'FH' Fertiliser Wagon

V/Line FH Fertiliser Wagon

Introduced into service by the VR in the early 1980’s, the FH wagons were converted from the ubiquitous GY wagon family for dedicated Pivot superphosphate fertiliser transportation between Geelong and Albury-Wodonga.

Only 6x wagons were present in this class and externally they were very similar in most respects to the related GH grain wagons on which they were based - a number of structural variations internally in relation to GH wagons were present, however. Like the GH wagons, the FH wagons had a fairly short lifespan on the VR and were removed from service by the early 1990’s.
